Ordering Publications

Publication sales for the society, both online and retail, are handled under contract by the publications staff of New Mexico Bureau of Geology.

Our online ordering system uses 128 bit SSL encryption to ensure the security of your personal information. Please see our Terms of Use & Privacy Policy for more information.

To purchase an item, click on the 'Buy Now' buttons to add the item to your shopping cart. You can pay for online purchases by credit card (either via our secure site or over the phone), or you can stop by main office of the New Mexico Bureau of Geology in Socorro to pick up your order. Of course, you can also order entirely by phone or you can visit our offices to browse our publications in person.

Prices shown include sales tax where applicable. Discounts are available to students, retailers, and members during our January sale (see below).

Security Standards

Any financial information related to purchases that we may collect, like credit card numbers, will utilize a secure (SSL encrypted) server and will be stored only long enough to complete your individual transaction. If you are uncomfortable about e-commerce, you can shop online and then arrange payment by phone. Any information collected in relation to fulfilling orders, such as names and addresses, will be stored on a computer system with appropriate physical and electronic security measures in place and subject to our terms of use and privacy policy. Prices & Availability

Occasionally we must change our prices. If prices rise, we will contact you for approval before we ship your order. Prices for purchases made online or by phone will be honored at stated prices.

Availability

Out-of-Stock Items:

We make an effort to ensure that items for sale are in stock, but we cannot guarantee availability. We have limited stock of publications from other publishers, like the USGS. If we are out of stock on an item and you are interested in purchasing it, please contact us and we may be able to expedite our restocking from that publisher.

Out-of-Print Publications:

Many of our out-of-print publications have been scanned and are being made available either as free downloads from this Web site and/or on CD-ROM for a nominal fee. If there is an out-of-print publication that is of interest to you, please contact us and let us know so we can adjust the priority of our queue for scanning.

Discounts

A number of discounts on the publications we sell are available. Please contact us to obtain these discounts. Similar discounts are available for publications sold by the New Mexico Bureau of Geology & Mineral Resources.

January Member Discount:

Members in good standing (meaning their dues are paid for the following year before their membership expires on 12/31) are offered a 25% discount on one copy of each publication ordered during the month of January. This discount also applies to complete sets.

Student Membership Discount:

A 35% discount is now offered to students. Students wishing to take advantage of this special discount must either display their student ID in person, or send / fax a copy to the Publications Sales Office. Students may puchase only one copy of each publication at the student price in their lifetime.

Teachers Discount:

A 20% discount is offered to teachers.

Dealers:

We offer wholesale prices to book retailers, contact us for more information.

Standing orders for the annual guidebook series are encouraged --inquire when ordering.

• $10 - $24.99: $5.50
• $25 - $74.99: $8.50
• $75 - $99.99: $11.50
• Over $100: $15

Returns & Exchanges

We are happy to replace merchandise that is lost or damaged. Requests for refunds, returns, or exchanges should be made within three weeks of the date of purchase.

We are happy to provide credit toward future purchases on returned retail sale items. Credits must be used within a year from the date of purchase.

We have a “no returns” policy on wholesale orders (except for damaged merchandise), but we do offer credit toward future wholesale purchases on items that are returned undamaged.
