A history of Los Alamos, New Mexico

Los Alamos is generally perceived as a modem community devoted to the high technology of the future. In fact it has a human history as colorful as its geological history, dating back to the 12th to 13th centuries. The history of the following periods are highlighted: Keres/Tewa Indian, Spanish Land Grant Settlers and Homesteaders, the Arrival of Anglo Settlers, the Los Alamos Ranch School, Manhattan District of the Second World War, and the Postwar National Laboratory. Chambers is responsible for all sections of this paper except that on the Los Alamos Ranch School, which is by Linda Aldrich.
