This year for Earth Science Week, the New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources will host an open house at our main office in Socorro on Thursday, October 17th from 12:30-2:00 pm.
During the open house, Dr. Shari Kelley will present “The spectrum of energy resource choices empowering your future.” Student essay and art contest winners will be announced, student artwork will be displayed, mineral prizes will be given and there will be free cake!
There will be a raffle for a large Selenite mineral specimen (see photo), with all proceeds benefiting Education Outreach. The cost is $3.00 for one ticket, and $5.00 for two tickets. Tickets can be purchased in advance in the Publications Office at the Bureau’s main office in Socorro, or by contacting Kelly Luster at Kelly.luster@nmt.edu or 575-835-5145. You do not need to be present to win the raffle (but you do need to be present for the free cake).
