Field Conference Registration:

Pre-conference Field Trip — September 27:

Participants will hike the Colorado Trail at Molas Pass down to the Animas River and then ride the Durango-Silverton historic railroad back to Silverton. With spectacular views and geology we will explore the Animas River geomorphology, Paleozoic strata, the Great Unconformity, and the Paleoproterozoic history recorded in the Irving Formation, Twilight Gneiss, and Uncompahgre Formation.  A sack lunch and beverage will be provided.

Note: There is limited space on the train for this trip (80 participants). If our limits are reached, you will be contacted and placed on a waiting list in the order requests are received.

Main Conference — September 28 - 30:

Does not include spouse's membership dues, which must be renewed separately if expired.

Departs Ouray and heads north to Ridgway ending in Rico. This trip visits hot spring locations and discusses the glacial history as well as many other geologic features.
Departs Ouray and heads south to Silverton to see and discuss hydrologic and environmental issues related to ore deposits and mining activities.

Food Preferences:

The registration fee includes the Ice Breaker, BBQ dinner, and banquet dinner, as well as daily lunches, snacks, and beverages. Participants are responsible for their own breakfasts.


Transportation:

For all three days, the conference will be traveling in passenger van caravans. The trip will start and end every day at the Twin Peaks Lodge in Ouray (125 3rd Ave).

2017 NMGS T-shirts will be available at the conference. You can reserve one (or more) and pay for them at the conference.

  • Accomodations are very limited in Ouray. NMGS has reserved blocks of rooms at discount rates. Please see the conference accommodation details for more information.
  • Registration is limited to the first 130 registrants. Your registration will be added to a waiting list in the order received if the registration limit has been reached (you will be notified regardless).
  • Our registration fees do not cover accommodations or breakfasts (all other meals are provided). However, accomodations often include breakfast, so inquire when you register.
  • Refunds are only possible if a request is received in writing by September 04, 2017.
  • If you have placed publications for purchase in your cart, they will not be included in this registration transaction. To complete payment for pending items, after you complete your registration, please click the 'View Cart' link at the top of any NMGS page (or click a 'buy now' link for an additional item). The separation of membership dues/conference registration from publication sales is necessary to keep the Societies' accounting more manageable.
