About this image
We stopped and visited Meteor Crater (Barringer Crater) on the 2013 New Mexico Geological Society Field Field Conference.
A cold front had blown in overnight and the low clouds were racing across the Arizona Painted Desert.
We enjoyed a dinner outside at the museum and fortunately, there were outer walls that blocked most of the wind. One of the walls had a large picture window without glass that gave a fine view of the setting sun and the San Francisco Mountains just north of Flagstaff where we started our day.
